Make Adoption Your Option
Welcome, and we are glad you are considering adopting a new family member from OneLife Rescue and Rehabilitation. We have some very special dogs looking for great homes. We pride ourselves in making the adoption process as painless as possible.
We have three requirements for adopters to be approved for an animal in our program:
- The animal must be an inside pet. We want all of our animals to live happy, healthy and safe lives being an integrated part of a family
(living within the family dwelling).
- All current household pets (dogs and cats) must be spayed or neutered. Considering what we spend of our free time doing, we cannot
adopt to a home that could potentially contribute to the pet overpopulation problem. In a perfect world, we would love for rescue not to
be needed!
- All current household pets (dogs and cats) must be current on vaccinations. We want our adoptable pets to be entering the safest
home possible. Many of our puppies/kittens may not have had all of their boosters, because they are not old enough. We want to ensure
that their new home will not put them at risk for picking up illnesses or diseases.

Once OneLife receives your application, our board members will carefully review it. We will first let you know that we have received the application and address any question or concerns that we may have. We will then call your vet or personal references. We may also set up a time to do a home visit.
Once these steps are complete, you will be put in touch with the foster home of the animal you are interested in. You and the foster will set up an appointment to meet the animal you are interested in. Potential adopters are encouraged to bring the whole family, to the meeting. Multiple meetings may be scheduled at the convenience of the potential adopter and the foster home, and if an initial meeting doesn't work out, potential adopters may request to meet other animals currently in the rescue. We are here to find a new companion that is the right fit for you!
Once you have found your perfect fuzzy match, you will sign an adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and welcome your new companion to his or her new life. We will provide you with all of the vet records that we have for your new pet, and we will register his or her microchip in your name.
Included in each adoption fee is:
- Spay or Neuter
- Heartworm test (dogs over 6 months)
- FELV/FIV test (for all cats/kittens)
- Up-to-date and age appropriate vaccinations
- Flea/tick prevention
- Heartworm prevention
- Deworming

DON'T SETTLE. We will find the right match for you! Adoption is a lifetime commitment. Our commitment to you and to our animals is to help create the perfect connection for each family. We are dedicated to making matches that will provide love and happiness for many years to come.
Typically, the adoption process will take about a week from beginning to end. Because all of our animals are housed in foster homes, and because our fosters have full-time jobs, we have to coordinate many different schedules. However, if you have submitted your application and have not heard from us in 48 hours, please email us.
Thank you for making adoption your option. Your new family member is waiting for you!
